Tesselaar Tulip Festival – Victoria, Australia

Rich, exuberant colours surround Tesselaar

Every year since 1954, large crowds are drawn to Silvan, Victoria where the annual Tesselaar Tulip Festival is held.

In addition to the tulips, the festival hosts various themed events on the weekend which feature the hallmarks of a perfect day trip – from art and craft, live music and dancing, a fantastic range of food stalls and of course, plenty of tables to soak in the atmosphere. I attended the Dutch Weekend yesterday and got to indulge in some delicious Dutch delicacies – including the popular Poffertjes (Mini dutch pancakes), ‘Kibberling’ (Deep fried fish bites), ‘Oliebollen’ (Doughnuts with apple and raisins). It was a great opportunity to learn more about Dutch culture and taste some delicious foods.

Coming up is the Food, Wine and Jazz weekend (September 26 to 28) and Irish Weekend (October 3 to 5). Bring some rugs and bask in the glorious beauty of Tesselaar. You don’t want to miss it!
