After opening 7 stores in Sydney, the holy grail of all dumplings is finally reaching Melbourne in June 2015! The 235-seated restaurant will occupy the top floor of Melbourne’s Emporium, making it one of the larger dumpling restaurants in the city.
Melbourne certainly has a soft spot for dumpling houses with dozens of restaurants dotted throughout the CBD, including personal favourites Hutong and Shanghai Street Dumpling.
Despite the high concentration of dumpling houses, there is something that sets Din Tai Fung apart and much of the success can be attributted to the Xiao Long Bao which is perfect in every way. The partially translucent, al dente dumpling skin is filled with a flavoursome broth and minced meat. (Highly recommend the Pork and Crab Meat Xiao Long Bao)
