Charming, cosy and located on the quieter end of Commercial Rd, Tall Timber exudes a different energy compared to its Prahran counterparts. Exposed white brick interiors and a mini garden atop the communal table creates a harmonious atmosphere which extends just as much to its food offerings.
Ingredients including the likes of quinoa and beetroot feature heavily on the all-day breakfast menu, however, before you balk at the idea of these ingredients – these are incorporated perfectly to the dishes and well executed. (The beetroot relish is addictive)
For the most part, the dishes at Tall Timber are well balanced and provide a more refreshing alternative to what you might expect from your local cafe. There are however, some creative spins to your breakfast favourites (The ‘Timber Benedict’ is topped with slow cooked pork shoulder and apple cider hollandaise whilst your breakfast bruschetta features a delicious Roast Pumpkin) and some heartier lunch selections (Chipotle beef brisket tacos). My personal pick would be the Cured Salmon Gravlax – its simply a stellar combination of flavours and textures.. a must try.
Tall Timber is a lovely little gem amongst the dynamic Prahran dining scene, and a great spot for those seeking a lighter or different breakfast alternative. For those who aren’t too keen on the indoors, there’s also plenty of outdoor seating perfect for those warmer or sunny days.
