Espresso, 5th Avenue blend

Around once a week, owner Dean Fouritz will be out and about checking out coffee beans, namely South American varieties due to their natural sweetness. At Street Talk Espresso, coffee forms a large part of the cafe’s identity where all the beans are roasted in house. This passion lead to the creation of Dean’s own coffee enterprise aptly named The Agency Espresso in late 2015 which now wholesales to selected cafes across Victoria.

I personally preferred the 5th Avenue house blend which has more intense flavours and a thicker crema, whilst the Project Andes is lighter on the palette and best enjoyed without milk.

The Boss of all Challah: Challah french toast squares, stewed apple, seasonal fruits, mascarpone, Tim Tam sand and espresso caviar

Of course, coffee isn’t the only thing that Street Talk Espresso does well. Dishes are a feast for the eyes as well as the palate, with one of the highlights from the menu being the beautifully plated Challah French Toast, similar to brioche with its soft and springy texture.

Another sweet dish that will bound to delight, particularly for those after a lighter option, is the Granola which is served with a vanilla bean pannacotta that’s not overly sweet. For something more substantial, definitely check out the Pumpkin Bruschetta, the combination of marinated mushrooms and charred haloumi go perfectly together.
